These big cats may be fearsome, but that doesn’t mean they don’t love their families! This set of 8 Wild Safari animal figures includes three big cat families to take children on an imaginative safari of play without ever leaving the house.

  • Characteristics: This set includes 8 scientifically accurate, realistic figures of 3 big cat families: lion, tiger and leopard. The lion family contains Lioness with Cub, Male Lion, and Lion Cub. The tiger family contains Bengal Tiger, Bengal Tigress, and Bengal Tiger Cub. The leopard family contains Leopard and Leopard Cub.
  • Size and Color: This set of hand-painted Wild Safari big cat figures contains three family units of popular and iconic felines in the genus Panthera:

The Lioness with Cub is 6 inches long and 2 ¾ inches tall. The Male Lion is 5 ½ inches long and 3 inches tall. The lion cub is about 2 1/3 inches long and 1 ¾ inches tall. Each lion is painted in shades of brown and tan.

The Bengal Tigress figure measures 5 inches long and 2 ¾ inches tall. The Male Bengal Tiger measures 6 inches long and 2 ½ inches tall. The Bengal Tiger Cub measures about 2 ½ inches long and 1 ¾ inches tall. Each is painted orange with white undersides and the species’ iconic thin black stripes.

The Leopard measures 5 inches long and 2 inches tall. The Leopard Cub is just over 3 inches long and a bit longer than 1 ½ inches. Both figures are yellowish brown with the characteristic “rosette” spotted pattern of black and orange spots.

History:

The term "big cat" is usually used to apply to the four largest members of the genus Panthera: the lion, the tiger, the leopard and the jaguar. Though the snow leopard is included in the Panthera genus, it is not typically considered a "big cat". All big cats can roar; for this reason, felines like mountain lions are not technically considered big cats as they do not have the larynx necessary for roaring.
