  • History:

Because it is both common and widespread throughout its endemic range, the rough green snake is classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN. However, they are negatively affected by both pesticides and urban development. More specifically, the construction of roads in the rough green snake’s natural habitat fragments its population and also puts them at danger when they are forced to cross.

Present Status Rough green snakes are not considered under threat, but there could be future problems with habitat loss and the consumption of insecticides from their prey. While many are still caught for the pet trade, there is a movement to have more captive bred animals available.
