Did you know that cownose rays actually migrate? During the spring, cownose rays leave waters close to South and Central America and move into the north Atlantic, where they stay until the beginning of winter. The best explanation for the cownose ray’s migration would be the change in water temperature during the seasons. However, scientists have not yet determined if their migration also effects feeding or mating patterns.
