Donkeys - Good Luck Minis®
Archeological finds dating to 4000 BC in ancient Egypt show evidence of domesticated donkeys. All domesticated donkeys come from wild donkey populations in Africa. Although domestic donkeys thrive worldwide, their wild counterparts are threatened with extinction. Donkeys have long been thought of as stubborn, but this stigma isn’t quite accurate. Donkeys do think for themselves more than other farm animals, and their reticence sometimes appears as stubbornness. The reason stems from their natural history in the African deserts, where their ancestors had to make careful life-or-death choices. Over time, donkeys truly developed intelligence, the ability to discern danger. Today, even safe on a farm, some donkeys might express unwillingness to perform a task simply because they feel it’s a risk.
