Concavenator lived in the Early Cretaceous Period, around 130 million years ago. It was a meat-eating dinosaur that featured unique taller vertebrae near its hips that may have supported some type of hump or sail. It could grow up to 20 feet in length.

  • History: Concavenator, an early relative of Carcharodontosaurus and Giganotosaurus, was discovered at the La Hoyas fossil site, near the province of Cuenca, Spain, in 2010. Concavenator had many unique features, including extra tall vertebrae (backbones) near its hips that could have supported a hump or sail that the dinosaur may have used for display purposes, and structures called “quill knobs” on the arms, which today are found in birds.
  • Scientific Name: Concavenator corcovatus (“Humped Hunter from Cuenca”)
  • Characteristics: This professionally painted, scientifically accurate Concavenator toy is posed in a walking stance, perhaps stalking its prey. It features the dinosaur’s unique hump above its back legs.
  • Size: The Concavenator toy figure is 6 ½ inches long and about 2 ¾ inches tall. It’s slightly longer than an ink pen or marker.
  • The Concavenator is part of the Wild Safari® Prehistoric World collection
  • All of our products are Non-toxic and BPA free
